Newport News Transit Center Platform Canopy Installed

Installation was completed on the train platform tensile membrane canopy for the new Amtrak station in Newport News VA. The station itself is still under construction.

This custom tensile structure was first designed by Span Systems for this project seven years ago. After several delays construction is now well under way for this new transit hub. The structure extends to shield passengers from the station doors onto the platform. Two central gutter/beams provide structural strength, and drainage for the entire 2000 sq ft tensile roof.
