The People Behind
Every Structure
A tight-knit team of structural engineers, project managers, and construction specialists — united by 35 years of shared expertise and an obsession with getting every detail right.
A Structural Engineer and expert in Tensile Membrane Structures, Andrew began his career in 1988 as VP of Field Operations for Spandome Corporation, overseeing all aspects of project management, purchasing, estimating, site preparation, and field installation. He formed Span Systems in 1989. Since then, Span Systems has installed over 3,000,000 square feet of fabric at sites around the world. Andrew has collaborated with many of the world's major design and engineering firms on tensile membrane structures including BuroHappold, Walter P. Moore, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Kahn Associates, and many others.
Arpad Kolozsvary-Kiss leads Span Systems' Budapest office and oversees the company's European market operations. As co-founder of the Budapest design center, building the Budapest design center.
With over 25 years of commercial and strategic leadership experience across technology and business development, Arpad brings a unique combination of operational rigour and international market expertise to Span Systems' European operation.
Prior to his role at Span Systems, Arpad held senior executive and advisory positions across multiple sectors, including corporate leadership at IBM and Sun Microsystems. He holds an MBA from Corvinus University of Budapest.
Nikita oversees project engineering, technical production, materials coordination, and logistics for tensile structure design and installation. He serves as a primary liaison between clients and the engineering team — ensuring every technical detail is communicated clearly and executed precisely.
Starting with Span Systems from the ground-up, his early experience in the field gives Nikita a clear understanding of the potential pitfalls of installation before they occur.
Stephen works with the team to coordinate all aspects of project logistics including schedule control, client communication, procurement — ensuring every project runs smoothly from initial proposal through to final handover.
An accountant and financial management professional with extensive experience in the construction industry. Stephanie is responsible for all aspects of corporate financial management including accounting, payroll, payables and receivables, as well as corporate compliance.
A Professional Structural Engineer with 25 years of experience designing complex Tensile Membrane Structures for Span Systems, both to American and International standards.
With a keen understanding of the nuances of membrane form finding, Laszlo is unrivaled in his understanding of the balance between curvature and prestress. He is an expert in the design development and has a deep understanding of the finite element method, in conjunction with structural design of all elements of the system.
Laszlo earned his university degree in Structural Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
With a detailed approach, Bálint brings advanced structural analysis expertise to the complex challanges of tensile fabric architecture for Span Systems.
Bálint earned his master's degree in Structural Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2016, specializing in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. This rigorous academic foundation established his expertise in numerical modeling and simulation of load-bearing structures across the field of complex fabric structures.
With over 20 years of engineering experience, Tamás brings comprehensive expertise in structural design, architectural conception, and advanced 3D mdeling to every project at Span Systems.
His deep understanding of Solid/BIM modeling has proven very effective for the infinite deisgn possibilities tensile fabric architecture and engineering offer.
• Architechtural & Conceptual Design - From concept development to high-quality visualizations.
• Engineering Solutions - Steel connection detail design within complete steel fabrication drawing package preparation.
• 3D Based Design & Optimization - 3D solid modeling ensuring precision through production verification, clash detection, quantity optimization, and standardized documentation.
With a unique blend of architectural training and specialized technical expertise, Nóra brings precision and creative problem-solving to the fabrication design process at Span Systems. Nóra completed her architecture degree at the University of Pécs.
Since joining Span Systems in 2012 as a technical designer, Nóra has focused on three essential areas:
• Material biaxial behavior and stress/strain intepretation.
• Fabric Cutting Pattern Development - Creating precise cutting patterns for tensile membrane structures in close collabotaion with manufacturers, ensuring optimal material utilization and structural performance.
• Steel Fabrication Drawings - Contributing to the preparation of detailed steel fabrication documentation that guides accurate manufacturing.
Responsible for overseeing on-site installation activities and ensuring work is executed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project drawings and specifications. Michael coordinates field crews, interfaces with clients and subcontractors, and maintains quality control to support efficient project delivery.
Since Span Systems is completely focused on DESIGN/BUILD delivery, we have been erecting the structures we design since its inception.
With numerous full time installation employees, some for up to 30 years, our dedicated members of the team are experienced, indespencible, and they put the BUILD in design/BUILD.
